Enviva takes over pellet works from Colombo Energy

16.03.2018 −

On 16 February, US-American Enviva Partners (Enviva) completed the acquisition of the 500,000-t pellet works of Colombo Energy, announced at the beginning of January. The works was taken over through Enviva JV Development Company, a joint venture with John Hancock Life Insurance.

The plant was sold by Portuguese The Navigator Company, which had only put the works into operation in 2016. Enviva has kept on the existing 80 full-time employees as well. The completed takeover of Colombo Energy boosts Enviva Partners’ annual production capacity to around 3.3m t of pellets. Subject to official approval, Enviva intends to enlarge the works annual capacity to approximately 600,000 t in the coming year.
