Enviva drives forward expansion plans in the USA

02.03.2017 −

US-American Enviva Partners and the joint-venture partner John Hancock Life Insurance plan to build a pellet-export terminal in the US Federal State of Mississippi and two pellet plants in Alabama.According to a recent presentation by Enviva CEO John Keppler, Enviva has already signed a rental agreement for the building of an export terminal in the port of Pascagoula (Mississippi). In November 2016, the company had already reported that they were looking at options to build and operate such a terminal. In addition, rights to build two pellet plants, each boasting annual capacity of 500,000 t, at sites in Childersburg and Lucedale (both Alabama), were brought into the joint venture with John Hancock.

According to presentation details, works planning and financing for the planned plant in Hamlet (North Carolina) have now been completed; the air permit for the plant had already been granted at the beginning of 2016. However, Enviva has not yet announced a definitive schedule for the realisation of the plant in Hamlet.
