Binderholz planning CLT works at Hallein facility

26.02.2020 −

Binderholz is planning to build a cross-laminated timber (CLT) works on the site of the former MDF works in Hallein. According to the daily newspaper “Salzburger Nachrichten”, the project is to be realised on the 27 ha premises by the Binderholz subsidiary b-solution. Binderholz is holding out the prospect of roughly 200 new jobs. After Unternberg and Burgbernheim, Hallein would be the Bindergroup’s third facility where CLT is produced.

Salzburger Nachrichten reports that the local community has already voiced considerable concerns about the plans, which, in their present form, would involve extensive measures for connecting the works to the road network. In advance of the negotiations due in week 8, the Hallein’s mayor, Alexander Stangassinger, had announced his intention to issue a negative reply to Binderholz’ enquiry.
