German pallet production well above a year earlier again

At a total of roughly 32.0m units, Germany’s output of box and flat wooden pallets in the third quarter was roughly 17% higher than a year earlier. According to the provisional figures published by the federal statistics office (Destatis), the out-put of flat wooden pallets was 15% higher than in the third quarter of 2020 at 28.6m units. Box-pallet production was increased even more sharply by 40% to around 3.4m units. The value of the box and flat wooden pallets ear-marked for sale was more than twice as higher as a year earlier at a total of €433.5m.

Including the meanwhile adjusted figures for the two preceding quarters, the German output of box and flat wooden pallets for the nine-month period amounts to 91.9m units, which equates to an increase of 11% against the previous year. 1.178m m³ of wood were used for crate production, an increase of 5%.
