Softwood plywood quota was filled on 23 April

01.05.2018 −

It took the least amount of time in ten years for the duty-free quota for softwood plywood imports into the EU to be filled in 2018, even with a correction made in the first half of February. The European Commission's Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union reported that the quota was filled on 23 April. The day is considered the date on which the final customs applications were accepted that could be included in the allocation.

The last allocation was made on 25 April this year. Over the past three years, the quota was filled in the second half of May (28 May 2015, 17 May 2016, 26 May 2017). In previous years, it took until June or July for the quota to be used up (4 June 2009, 9 July 2010, 28 June 2011, 24 July 2012, 12 July 2013, 16 June 2014). The last time that the quota was filled this quickly as in 2008 when it lasted until 25 April.
