Raw particleboard production up at double-digit rate

In the fourth quarter, a total volume of 1.056m m³ raw particleboard (goods tariff number 1621 12 001) was produced in Germany. According to the preliminary data of the Federal Statistical Office, the preceding year’s figure was exceeded by 13.5%. With growth of 9.6% to 744,236m³, production of raw particleboard intended for sale once again developed along somewhat weaker lines than total production. With increases in the current period, however, business of German manufacturers has continued to pick up. Following corona-related declines in the second quarter, raw particleboard production had increased by 4.0% to 1.011m m³ in the period from July to September. Of this figure, a volume of 721,925m³ was intended for sale - an increase of 2.2% vis à vis the comparative period of the preceding year. In the fourth quarter, production volumes reached their peak point of the year in both segments.

Despite the positive development during the second half year, production volumes over the entire year fell short of the preceding year’s volumes. Production of raw particleboard declined by 0.8% to 3.981m m³; the volumes intended for sale fell by 3.7% to 2.803m m³.
