Pro MDF reports another fall in MDF production

Pro MDF made a total of 192,986 m³ of MDF in the 2017 financial year. Pro MDF is owned by Mexican Proteak Uno. Output reached the lowest quarterly level of the year between September and December at about 40,000 m³. Manufacturing reached 51,000 m³ at the start of the year before first improving to 53,000 m³ in the second quarter. It dipped to 48,000 m³ in the third quarter owing to a 15-day stoppage for maintenance in August.

Proteak said that the fall in production towards the year’s end was connected to another scheduled stoppage for maintenance. In addition, tests on a gas turbine for combined heat and power generation resulted in downtime, with the tests to continue during the current quarter. The integration of the gas turbine into the production process suffered another significant delay as a result. This work was originally supposed to be completed by mid-2017; at the start of November, Proteak had set a goal of completing this work by the year’s end.
