Plywood imports: Last year's trend has reversed

In 2018, German hardwood plywood imports increased by 5 % to 748,585 m³. According to preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office, the increase for softwood plywood was even stronger, with an increase of 8% to 463,565 m³. In contrast, imports of tropical plywood ranges fell by 1% to 137,050 m³.

In the previous year, a contrary development had been recorded. In 2017, only imports of tropical plywood had developed positively with a plus of 12 % m³. In the case of hardwood and softwood plywood, however, the import volume of 789,184 m³ and 434,243 m³ achieved in 2016 was missed by 11 % and 1 % respectively.
