Thermally fused laminate (TFL) sales are growing in North America, too, albeit from a relatively low level. Continuing the pattern seen in all four quarters of last year, TFL sales grew faster than total particleboard and MDF/HDF deliveries in the first three months. While particleboard sales were up 3% and MDF/HDF sales were 2% higher than the prior-year period, the Composite Panel Association (CPA) reported that TFL sales had jumped by as much as 10% to 32.9m m². The second quarter of 2016 was the last time that sales were higher than this level. That being said, the CPA has since revised these sales figures on several occasions.
