Methanex profiting from higher selling prices again

Canadian Methanex raised it sales revenue and key performance figures in the second quarter above those of the same period of last year. Besides the 46.6% increase in the actually obtained methanol prices to an average of $327/t, higher delivery volumes were a contributing factor as well.

The volume of methanol sales was 4.7% higher than a year earlier at 2.474m t. 1.790m t of this was produced by the company itself, 387,000 t came from outside sources, and 297,000 t from sales on commission. This enabled sales revenue to be raised by 44.4% to $716m. EBITDA more than quadrupled to $174m and the net result was well back into the black at $74m.
