Demand for elliotis pine plywood has picked up slightly again since the middle of August

09.09.2011 −

The Brazilian elliotis pine plywood business appears to have recovered, at least to some extent, since mid-August after being rather subdued in recent months. A variety of manufacturers and agents state that European importers and wholesalers have been making more enquiries again over the past fortnight. This revival is primarily being witnessed in German-speaking countries. By contrast, demand from the Benelux region remained rather cool in the past two weeks. This resurgence in enquiries is due in part to the need for additional plywood after the end of the summer break and partly to the start of exploratory talks in the run-up to making purchases against the duty-free quota on softwood plywood imports into the EU.
