North American OSB prices have hardly altered after heading lower in August and the first half of September 2022. Random Lengths continues to quote US$360/1,000 sqft for the benchmark grade of 7/16” in the North Central region.
The benchmark price stood at US$650 at the start of June before dropping to US$375 by the beginning of July. The price gradually edged higher again in the following weeks and reached US$445 in early August. Another downward trend then followed. In mid-August, the price had reached US$425 before softening to US$370 in early September and US$360 in mid-September.
Prices in the South West and South East regions had fallen to US$325 and US$340, respectively, by early September before slipping to US$315 and US$330 by mid-month. In Western Canada, prices had even dropped to US$280 by mid-September. Prices there now stand at US$285 compared with US$330 in the South West and South East, according to Random Lengths.
