The Metsä Group is continuing to expand its capacity in the field of surface processing at its Suolahti softwood plywood plant. The company apparently intends to install a new six-head sanding machine from the Italian manufacturer Imeas in July 2012. The new line is to be commissioned by the end of July. The company reports that the new acquisition is to replace an older line from Raute. The total volume of the replacement investment and the necessary conversion measures is quoted by Metsä as roughly €1m.
