AKP investing €10m in new production location

AKP Carat-Arbeitsplatten is currently investing around €10m in a new plant in Meiningen’s Rohrer Berg industrial estate. Laying of the foundation stone took place on 29 June. The future production of stone worktops will be consolidated at this location, which is currently situated in the Walldorf district of Meiningen. The production area of 5,000 m² in Walldorf, which is spread over several buildings, is only leased. The lease agreement has been terminated with effect from 30 June 2022.

According to managing director Dietmar Hirn, the investment decision in favour of the new stone plant was taken against the background of the lack of expansion possibilities in Walldorf. In addition, there is an opportunity to improve the efficiency of work processes at the new location. Commissioning of the new production facility, located directly on the A 71 motorway, is scheduled for October 2022. The production area there will cover approximately 8,500 m². An additional 1,500 m² office building with social amenities is also planned at the location, into which a showroom of around 400 m² is to be integrated. The premises cover an entire area of 23,000 m².
