Surteco books downturn in revenues from Paper

07.09.2017 −

German Surteco experienced a similar fall in revenues from individual product groups within the Paper division during the second quarter of 2017 as it did in the first three months. Looking at the entire first half, revenues from printed decor paper slipped 22% as they did in the first quarter. Impregnated paper revenues dropped 10%. Surteco blamed both downturns on a high level of ordering last year because orders had been brought forward.

The situation for pre-impregnated finish foils has improved slightly. After falling 18% in the first half, the entire first quarter ended with a 14% decline. Surteco said that this turn of events was connected to its continued withdrawal from low-margin business. Revenues from paper-based edgebanding were down 2% compared with the first half of last year. On the other hand, revenues from fully impregnated finish foils (+6 %) and backer paper (+25%) headed higher.
