Decor paper: Logistics issues hamper overseas shipments

14.04.2021 −

A scarcity of container capacity that has emerged in recent months and an ensuing spike in freight rates, especially when doing business with Asia, have made it harder to deliver decor paper overseas, as well. This factor has significantly hampered imports of Chinese decor paper into South America and a few European markets and exports from European decor paper mills to North and South America and Asia. Imports from China have fallen sharply because of much higher logistics costs. Offsetting this effect by sourcing material from other regions is tricky because of strained supply around the globe. European decor paper manufacturers have now imposed freight surcharges for their overseas exports to make up for higher logistical costs.
