Akzo Nobel planning to acquire V.Powdertech

Dutch Akzo Nobel agreed to acquire Thai V.Powdertech on 27 November, a short time after talks about a merger with Axalta Coating Systems ended on 21 November. Akzo Novel is to acquire a manufacturing facility in Samut Sakhon and patent and trademark rights from V.Powdertech, together with all 274 employees. Akzo Nobel announced that the deal would close in the coming weeks.

V.Powdertech reports making 8,500 tonnes of powder coatings each year. Besides furniture producers, metalworking companies, machinery builders and automotive part suppliers are among its customers. About 90% of its total revenues are generated in Thailand where V.Powdertech claims to have a market share of over 30%. It also exports products to Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
