The chemicals group Akzo Nobel has acquired all shares in the paint manufacturer Xylazel from the Spanish pharmaceutical company PharmaMar. The purchase price on a debt-free and cashless basis was set by both companies at €21.8m in cash.

Xylazel operates a production site in Porriño/Pontevedra with a total of around 100 employees, where in addition to paints, metal and wood preservatives are also manufactured. In the past fiscal year, the company generated sales of € 20.5m. The previous year's level of € 19.4m was thus exceeded by 6%.

With the takeover of Xylazel, Akzo Nobel sees itself as one of the largest manufacturers of decorative paints in Spain. According to the company's own assessment, it is also the leader in wood preservatives, while the market share for metal protection products was also expanded.
