Enviva Partners pellet turnover boosted by 4 %

18.05.2018 −

In spite of the outage of the Chesapeake storage and handling terminal in Norfolk, Virginia, due to fire, US-American Enviva Partners (Enviva) achieved an increase in its pellet turnover in the first quarter. The turnover rose by 4 % in the period under review to around 648,000 t. Taking into account the costs incurred by the Chesapeake fire on 27 February, however, gross earnings turned out to be negative at -4.54m $. The average trade margin per ton fell to 7.35 $. Adjusted for non-recurring effects caused by the Chesapeake fire, the margin remained large stable at the level of a year earlier at 38.11 $/t.

As already announced by the company quite some time ago, it further reduced its dependence on only a few big customers. Whereas the three biggest individual customers in Europe had still accounted for roughly 97 % of the total pellet sales in the first quarter of 2017, the figure was down to 79 % in the period under review.
