Theurl to build CLT plant in Carinthia by 2020

07.12.2018 −

Austrian Theurl brothers will build a cross laminated timber (CLT) at the Steinfeld/Drau site by 2020. An area of around 12.5 ha has already been found and the ground-breaking ceremony is already planned for 2019. Up to 100 jobs are to be created in the new plant. The company did not provide any information about the capacity of the CLT plant or the investment volume in the announcement published on 4 December.

Theurl operates a sawmill with a planing mill at its headquarters. According to the company, the annual cut is around 450,000 fm, with one chipper line for small wood and one band-saw line for thick wood being used. Theurl is already active in the glued laminated timber product area and produces up to 75,000 m³ of glulam annually at the Assling suburb of Thal-Wilfern. A joinery centre is also attached to the glulam plant.
