Ikea Industry commissions sawmill in Stalowa Wola

22.09.2014 −

Ikea Industry, in which the production operations of the Swedish Ikea group are merged, commissioned a large-scale sawmill for the production of pine lumber on 16 September at its 25 hectare site in the southern Polish location of Stalowa Wola. Prior to commissioning, IKEA Industry had registered annual roundwood requirements of 400,000 m3 with the internet auctions conducted by the Polish state forest agency Lasy Panstwowe, Warsaw. The investment volume was reported by Polish media to be roughly PLN33m, which is the equivalent of roughly €7.8m. In a first step, the work force at the mill will number 43, but that number is to be almost doubled when full sawing capacity is reached.
