Turnover in German DIY sector declines in second quarter

20.09.2012 −

Turnover in the first six months of 2012 in the German DIY sector, at €9.6bn for unadjusted selling space, showed year-on-year growth of 1.1% (adjusted for selling space: +0.2). According to BHB this is primarily attributable to a good trend in turnover of plus 7% in the first three months. The BHB/GfK report drawn up by the BHB shows that branch turnover in the second quarter, at €5.4bn, was down year on year by 2.9%. Adjusted for selling space, the decline in revenues for the period April to June was even greater, at 3.8%. In spite of the recent downward trend, the BHB reports that it is sticking to its growth forecast issued at the beginning of the year of between 1.8% and 2.0% for the whole of 2012.
