Unilin and Egger to work together on click furniture

08.03.2012 −

Unilin and the Egger group have brokered a strategic partnership for the use of gluefree click connections in furniture manufacturing. This deal aims to bring this technology to market faster. To this end, Egger is to put the technical systems in place to make furniture components with click connections at its two furniture parts plants in St. Johann and Bünde. In addition, the two companies have combined the patent claims that they held, which in Unilin’s case had already led to four patents. In the future, Unilin’s Technologies division, which pools its intellectual property activities, is to be the exclusive licensor; Egger will receive a portion of the licensing fees as a sub-licensor. Furniture manufacturers making components with click connections from Unilin, Egger or other possible suppliers will have to secure a licence to market furniture made using this technology.
