Polish timber industry calling for reduction in log prices

07.11.2011 −

Representatives of the Polish timber industry are calling on the Polish forest office Lasy Panstwowe of Warsaw to reduce log prices. They say the reason for their action is the fact that the currently applicable log prices are unlikely to be able to be passed on to buyers in the winter months due to an anticipated seasonal slackening in demand for lumber and other wood products. This would exacerbate the already tense earnings position. Appropriate talks are currently being conducted between representatives of the timber industry and the Polish government.
