Kurekss new sawing line starts in fourth quarter

23.08.2011 −

A new HewSaw SL250 Duo sawing line from the Finnish plant manufacturer Veisto is currently being installed at the Latvian timber-industry company Kurekss. Commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011. The new machinery, which is de-signed for an annual production capacity of 200,000 m³ of lumber in two-shift operations, will replace the existing sawing line which has production capacity of 180,000 m³/year. The new plant, which boasts a feed speed of up to 180 m/min, can process roundwood diameters of up to 55 cm. Kurekss placed the order, which is worth roughly €5m, in November 2010. Lumber sorting at the mill is also being converted and will be carried out by the Swedish plant manufacturer Nya Framtec.
