West Fraser also wants to shut down Chasm sawmill

21.06.2019 −

Less than two weeks after the announcement that the Vavenby 250 million bdft sawmill would be permanently shut down, Canadian West Fraser announced plans to permanently shut down the Chasm mill on Monday. In addition, the company plans to convert the 100 Mile House plant from a three-shift to a two-shift operation. Both measures will be implemented during the third quarter.

By closing Chasm and cutting production at 100 Mile House, West Fraser is reducing its lumber production by a total of 314 million bdft. A total of 210 employees will be affected, 176 in Chasm and 34 in 100 Mile House.
