WCLIB merges with Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau

The US Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau (PLIB) and West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau (WCLIB) have combined their service and certification activities effective January 1. According to a statement published by PLIB on January 24th, all brands and services offered by WCLIB so far will be continued under the umbrella of PLIB. These include the American Institute of Timber Construction (AITC) Glulam Certification Services, which WCLIB acquired in January 2013.

The combined activities of the two certification and testing bodies will be headed by PLIB President Jeff Fantozzi. The long-time WCLIB Executive Vice President Don DeVisser will retire.

PLIB was founded in 1903 and is considered the oldest certification and testing body for sawn timber in the USA. The WCLIB was originally founded in 1911. The combined activities of the two companies represent an annual softwood lumber volume of over 6bn bdft.
