Stora Enso investing €80m in handling wood in Imatra

14.01.2021 −

Stora Enso is investing roughly €80m in centralising and modernising the wood-handling resources for the two Kaukopää and Tainionkoski pulp and board mills in Imatra, Finland by the third quarter of 2022. The project covers the centralisation of the roundwood storage facility as well as woodchip production and preparation sections at the Kaukopää facility. A third debarking line is also being set up along with modifications to the woodchip plant and the log-year infrastructure. The two works’ entire annual wood requirement of 5m m³ is to be handled via the central facility in future. According to Stora Enso, the main orders for plant deliveries and the conversion have already been placed with Valmet and Raumaster. The measures are scheduled to begin in the first quarter. At the two works in Imatra, Stora Enso has manufacturing capacity for 1.3m tpy of pulp, 1.2m tpy of board, and 435,000 t of polymer coating.
