German imports of softwood sawlogs and industrial softwood in the third quarter declined by 17% to 1.721m m³. According to the Federal German Statistics Agency, imports of softwood logs were down year on year by one fifth to 934,255 m³. The decrease is partly attributable to considerably reduced imports from Norway, which reached only 18% of those seen in the previous year, at 40,000 m³. However, imports from Poland (-37%), Belgium (-14%) and Denmark (-29%), inter alia, also showed decline. Deliveries of industrial softwood fell by 13% to 786,462 m³. Roughly 15% fewer imports from each of the Czech Republic and Estonia were only partially compensated for by increased imports from Poland (+10%) and Latvia (+13%).
