Segezha to modernise Karelian Wood for RUB350m

Segezha Group will be investing roughly RUB350m (roughly equivalent to €4m) in updating the sawmill Karelian Wood Company (KWC) by the middle of 2022 as part of a second modernisation phase. The existing log feeder and residual-wood disposal system are to be replaced to start with. Negotiations are currently underway with plant manufacturers. The modernisation measures are expected to boost annual production from the present 125,000 m³ to 140,000 m³ of sawn softwood in future.

A drum chipper from Bruks Klöckner and geared to an output of 20 m³/hour was set up at the facility in spring. The chipper replaced an existing unit. The arising woodchips are fired in the existing heating boiler. Various components of the chipper line supplied by the former Söderhamn Eriksson and the sawnwood sorting system had been replaced by the end of 2020 during the first modernisation phase. The investment expenditure amounted to RUB100m.
