SCA’s new sorting plant in Bollsta on schedule

07.12.2020 −

The construction of a new sorting plant for the Bollsta sawmill of Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) is currently on schedule. The foundation slab was recently completed for the roughly 200 m long and approximately 50 m wide hall. Installation of the plant and machinery is then scheduled to begin in September 2021, followed by the start of the works in autumn 2022. A new workshop building has already been completed. The 1,950 m² building is currently being put into service.

SCA is investing a total of some SEK600m in modernising and extending the pine sawmill. At the core of the planned measures is the replacement of two existing sorting lines for dry sawn softwood by a single plant. The order for the dry sorting system had already been awarded to Springer Maschinenfabrik in May. The contract for delivering a total of five scanners, a “CT Log” and a “Logeye 302D” for roundwood sorting and three “Goldeneye 900” for wet and dry sorting, went to Microtec in September.
