SCA acquires further 8,500ha of forest in Latvia

Swidish Svenska Celulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) has continued its investment activity in the Baltic region by purchasing a further 8,500ha of forest. According to a statement issued on 26 June 2019, SCA has reached an agreement with forestry company Livland Skog AB (Växjö) concerning the sale of Latvian Sundin Mezs SIA (Valmiera). The sale includes a total of 9,600ha, of which 8,500ha are categorised as productive forest areas. Growing timber stock totals 900,000m³, which corresponds to just under 106m³/ha. The purchase price is SEK260m, equivalent to €24.2m as well as some €2,850 per hectare of forest. SCA expects the acquisition to be finalised over the course of the third quarter.
