Restructuring measures in UPM Timber sawmills

At the end of March UPM Kymmene concluded the mandatory negotiations with employees concerning restructuring measures in the UPM Timber business division. As part of the measures to improve the economic situation, UPM Timber will permanently shut down the small-diameter timber line at the Kaukas sawmill at the end of June. For the Korkeakoski sawmill, shift operation changes are planned in order to achieve better utilisation of capacities.

Furthermore, in all four Finnish sawmills of UPM Timber, which in addition to Kaukas and Korkeakoski also include Alholma and Seikku, changes in management as well as improvements to the timber supply chains are planned. A total of 43 employees are affected by these measures, half of them at the Kaukas sawmill.
