Resolute investing additional CAD50m in sawmills

24.06.2021 −

Resolute Forest Products (RFP) has announced investment of CAD50m in four sawmills. As reported by the company on 10 June, CAD22m is to be spent on modernising the Senneterre works in Quebec, CAD13m on the works in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and CAD15m on the two works Cross City, Florida, and Glenwood, Arkansas. The measures are scheduled for completion by the third quarter 2022. Resolute has raised the investment expenditure planned for 2021 from the initial CAD100m to what is now CAD125m. At the sawmills in Cross City, Florida, and Glenwood, Arkansas, taken over from Conifex Timber at the beginning of February 2020, the purpose of the measures is to boost yield and efficiency. Once the project is completed, the annual capacity of Cross City will rise by 20m bdft. The capacity of the Thunder Bay works will rise by up to 40m bdft per year once the measures have been implemented.
