Moelven invests NOK170m in wood impregnation

16.11.2020 −

Against the background of increased sales of impregnated wood products, Moelven Industrier recently decided to invest NOK170m into the construction of an impregnation system at the premises of Moelven Soknabruket. The vacuum pressure process, which - according to current plans - is to be commissioned in 2022, is to facilitate the impregnation of approximately 40,000m³ of wood products per year through what is known as the royal process, developed by Dr. Wolman. Furthermore, the new system is to increase existing impregnation capacities concerning the introduction of copper compounds. As a result, Moelven Soknabruket will have the largest impregnation capacities in the country.

During the course of the third quarter, a camera-supported system for sorting kiln-dried softwood lumber was commissioned as planned at the Swedish sawmill operating under the name Moelven Årjäng Såg. This means that a camera has now been installed for the purpose of lumber grading at every Swedish Moelven sawmill.
