Metsä Fiber sells sawmill Eskola to Ha-Sa

14.06.2018 −

The Metsä Fiber division of the Finnish Metsä Group will sell the Eskola sawmill to the Finnish sawmill company Ha-Sa. The closing of the acquisition announced on June 12 is expected to take place on July 2. With the sale, the alternatively planned closure of the sawmill could be averted; Metsä Fiber had already begun the necessary employee discussions in May. The 17 employees of the sawmill will now be taken over by Ha-Sa.

With a production of 50,000 m³/year of sawn softwood, Eskola is one of the smaller of the six Metsä Group sawmills belonging to the Metsä Fiber Division since November 2016. In addition to Eskola, 1.9 million m³ of sawn softwood was produced in the Metsä sawmills in Vilppula, Lappeenranta, Renko, Merikarvia and Kyrö last year.

Ha-Sa headquartered in Haapajärvi operates two sawmillsso far, one mill is focused on the cutting of small timber. The production capacity of all three sawmills together is indicated by Ha-Sa on the company homepage with 400,000 m³/year.
