Jeld-Wen loses legal dispute in first instance

14.02.2019 −

US window and door manufacturer Jeld-Wen has lost the legal dispute against door manufacturer Steves & Sons (Steves) in the court of first instance. On 14 December the district court in Richmond, Virginia, announced a judgment which demands forced sale of the Jeld-Wen Towanda door skin plant in Pennsylvania. The responsible judge Robert Payne has therefore confirmed the preceding preliminary decisions. Jeld-Wen, however, has decided to lodge an appeal and, for the time being, is not required to instigate measures to sell the plant. The initial appeal process is expected to take between 9 and 18 months. If a decision in third and final instance at the US Supreme Court becomes necessary, the ensuing procedure would take another 6-18 months.
