Interfor CEO Davies to step down at the end of the year

The CEO and President of Interfor Duncan Davies, Canada, will step down effective December 31. According to a statement published yesterday by Interfor, Ian Fillinger, currently Senior Vice President and COO of the company, has been appointed as the new President & CEO effective January 1, 2020. Davies will continue to serve the Group in an advisory capacity until the end of 2020.

Davies joined Interfor in June 1998, was appointed President in December of the same year and CEO in February 2000. During his tenure, he led Interfor's expansion from a regional producer to what he claims to be the world's fourth largest timber group with operations in Canada and the United States. Annual sales in 2018 amounted to Can$ 2.187 billion, while sawn timber production totaled bdft 2.635 billion.

Fillinger joined Interfor in March 2005. He was appointed Senior Vice President & Head of Operations in December 2015 and has been responsible for the company's manufacturing, forestry, wood sourcing and investment activities since then; he has been COO since February 2018.
