Infrastructure agreement signed for Slovenian BSW plant

On 26 July, representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure and the Municipality of Braslovce signed an agreement to build a direct road connection for the sawmill planned by the British BSW Timber at the Gomilsko site. With the construction of the new road next to the two existing access roads, the Gomilsko site will be directly connected to the E57 main road, which in Ljubljana flows into the E61 and leads to the Mediterranean port of Koper.

The contract was signed by Darja Kocbek, Head of the Land Transport Department within the Ministry of Infrastructure, and Milan Šoštaric, Director of Braslovce City Council. Furthermore, Alex Brownlie, BSW Timber Commercial Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the subsidiary operating under BSW SI, Zdravko Pocivalšek, Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology and Boštjan Gorjup, President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, have attended the signing of the contract.
According to Brownlie, the group is currently negotiating with Slovenian sawmills about deliveries of sawn timber to the processing plant planned by BWS Sl at the Letuš site. At the Šoštanj site, a pellet plant and a combined heat and power plant will also be built, in which the sawmill residues produced during production will be used.
