Holmen wood products division sales up by 51%

13.05.2021 −

In the first quarter of 2021, the wood products business division of Swedish Holmen increased its sales of wood products by 51% to a volume of 372,000m³. The division’s five sawmills produced 373,000m³ lumber, representing an increase of 64%. According to the business report published on 29 April, turnover more than doubled to SEK1.020bn. EBITDA and operating profit both increased many times over, to SEK265m and SEK218m respectively. The increases in sales and turnover result from the takeover of Martinsons Group - which was concluded on 1 October 2020 - as well as increased cutting activity at the Braviken sawmill in the south of Sweden. In January 2020, expansion of the sawmill by 150,000m³ to an annual production capacity of 600,000m³ softwood lumber was completed. Increased lumber prices, for example with regard to sales in the USA, as well as a favourable product mix also had a positive effect on the development of turnover and results.

At group level, turnover of SEK4.703bn was generated - an increase of 5%. Growth rates in the double-digit percentage range were recorded concerning EBITDA (+27% to SEK1.161bn), operating profit (+35% to SEK849m), pre-tax profit (+36% to SEK839m) and net profit (+37% to SEK675m).
