GP spending about $120m to modernise Pineland sawmill

21.10.2021 −

Georgia-Pacific Wood Products is investing around US$120m in modernising its sawmill in Pineland, Texas. On 29 September, the group announced that work should begin soon and be completed in late 2022. The centrepiece of the project will be a new sawmill that will replace an old mill dating back to the 1960s. The work will also boost the site’s capacity from around 380m board feet to 450m board feet per year. Along with installing a new cutting line, the complex will also expand its log yard storage, incorporate a new continuous dry kiln and a debarking and log processing line. The BID Group of Companies announced that it had won the contract to deliver the sawmill.
