Felling in Finland holding at higher level than last year

20.04.2018 −

The increase noticeable in log prices for several months now is generating slightly higher felling activity than last year, too, in Finland. After an increase of 1.2 % in January, the figures from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) show in February a 1.1 % increase in felling in comparison with the same month of last year at 6.340m m³.

Besides higher prices, a catch-up effect is also likely to be partly responsible for the growth in volumes in some regions, particularly since felling had occasionally been obstructed by the weather in the fourth quarter, especially in the south of the country.
