EU duty-free quota filled on 28 May

08.06.2015 −

The duty-free quota for softwood plywood imports into the EU was used up on 28 May. The European Commission's Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union reported that the quota had thus been depleted almost three weeks earlier than last year. Much more softwood plywood had been imported duty-free into the EU in January than in the same month last year with a sum of approximately 237,000 m³. Quite a bit less softwood plywood received duty-free status in February (a little over 80,000 m³) and in March (about 90,000 m³). Depletion of the quota then accelerated again in April (ca. 112,000 m³) and in May (nearly 128,000 m³).
