Estonia: Logging increases by 10% in 2016

In Estonia a total volume of 13.819m m³ roundwood was felled in 2016; this represents a 10% increase compared to the preceding year. According to information from the Estonian statistics authority the felling volume in private forests increased at an above-average rate of 12% to 9.204m m³.

In the state forest managed by Estonian State Forest Management Centre RMK, felling increased by 6% compared to the preceding year to 4.527m m³. Of this volume, 3.780m m³ was used as sawlogs, veneer logs and industrial roundwood, corresponding to an increase of 7%. A further 571,603m³ of firewood was also produced.
