Derome takes over another sawmilling company

08.06.2018 −

By taking over Maa Såg, the Swedish Derome group now operates five sawmills in its “Timber” division. According to a release published by Derome on 23 May, the takeover of the family business with an annual output of roughly 60,000 m³ is due to become effective on 1 August; this raises Derome Timber’s annual capacity to a total of 660,000 m³.

All 20 of Maa Såg’s employees are being kept on. According to information from Gunnar Jakobsson, CEO of Derome Timber, the acquisition strengthens Derome’s position on the Dutch market on which Maa Såg is traditionally well represented. Jakobsson is also anticipating synergies with Derome’s four other sawmills, all of which are located in the immediate vicinity of Mjöshult.
