Bergs Timber changing business year and divisions

15.03.2019 −

Starting this year, Bergs Timber is switching its business year to the calendar year. On 27 February, the company therefore presented a pro forma business report for the 16-month period of 1 September 2017 to 31 December 2018. Another change involves the company’s report structure. Instead of five, Bergs Timber will only differentiate between three divisions in future. The sawmills in Sweden and the activities of Laesti as well as Vika Wood are assigned to the “Sawmills” division. The new “Further Processed” division covers the Bitus impregnating activities as well as Byko-Lat. The wholesales activities in the UK operated under Bergs Timber (UK) since 1 January are being assigned to the “Other” division.

The considerable increases in sales revenue and performance figures given in the latest business report are largely attributable to the acquisition of four production and trading facilities in Estonia, Latvia, and the UK of Norvik Timber Industry (NTI), the Latvian subsidiary of the Icelandic timber and trading group Norvik.

Bergs Timber produced 896,000 m³ of sawn softwood in the period covering a total of 16 months, 663,000 m³ of which was accounted for by the sawmills in Sweden and 233,000 m³ by the works in the Baltic states. 900,000 m³ of sawn softwood were sold in the period under review, 661,000 m³ by the Swedish works and 239,000 m³ by those in the Baltic region.
