40% of Latvian exports delivered to Great Britain

Latvian exports of rough-sawn and planed softwood lumber (goods tariff no. 44071) to Great Britain increased by 15% in the third quarter of 2016 vis à vis the comparative period of the preceding year to 271,600m³. This means that almost 40% of Latvian exports were delivered to Great Britain. According to preliminary information of the Forest Department within the Latvian Ministry of Agriculture exports to Estonia doubled to 77,800m³. Compared to the preceding year, an increase in deliveries of softwood lumber to Germany and the Netherlands at 13% and 3% respectively was recorded. Deliveries to Egypt, in contrast, declined by 15%. Exports to other countries amounted to 215,800m³; this corresponds to an increase of 9%. This means that from July to September exports increased by 16% to a total of 694,400m³.

In the first half of the year exports were 4% above the preceding year’s figure. Accumulated over the first nine months, exports increased by 8% to 2.01m³, according to the Latvian Forest Department.
