Swedish Sveaskog handled a total of 2.901m m³ of roundwood in the first quarter, slightly more than in the previous year. A 4.4 % increase in the volume of logs to 1.316m m³ was offset by decreases in industrial and biomass deliveries of 2.9 % and 3.6 %, respectively, to 1.399m m³ and 186,000 m³, respectively. For the period from April 2018 to March 2019, timber handling totalled 5.649 million m³, almost 1.7% more than in the same period of 2017/2018.
Due to an average price increase of 11% across all product ranges, Group sales increased to SEK1.924bn in the first quarter. At SEK509m, the operating result was 30 % higher than in the previous year. Gross profit and pre-tax profit rose by 30 % and 34 % respectively to SEK677m and SEK651m, with some of the increases being attributable to revaluations of wood growth by SEK113m. Net income improved by 35 % to SEK521m.
