Segezha Group awards contracts for LDK 1 extension

At the end of November, Segezha Group awarded the contracts for the extension of the Siberian wood-industry facility Lesosibirsky LDK 1. According to the release, the orders are worth a total of RUB3bn (roughly equivalent to €36m). Assembly of the first machines is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2022. Upon completion of the expansion measures planned by the middle of 2023, annual production capacity at the facility is to rise by 8% to 650,000 m³ of sawn softwood. The pellet capacity will more than double to 210,500 tpy.

Nordautomation will supply the roundwood sorting system equipped with 64 bunkers. Nine more kilns from Secal are being set up in addition to the three kilns put into operation in October. A kiln-dried sawnwood-sorting plant with 58 bunkers and made by Hekotek, is being installed. As general contractor, Hekotek is also responsible for supplying three pellet lines geared to a total annual capacity of 100,000 t. Polytechnik is supplying two heating boilers, each with a capacity of 20 MWth, to replace the existing systems. The first heating boiler is to be put into operation during the course of 2022, and the start-up of the second plant is planned for October 2023. The heat produced is to be used for drying sawnwood.
