James Jones & Sons takes over GT Timber

James Jones & Sons completed its acquisition of the sawmilling company GT Timber on 1 March. Jilly Wentworth will remain at the helm of GT Timber as managing director. According to a press release issued by James Jones, the two sawmilling businesses Taylormade Timber Products and Kerr Timber Products belonging to GT Timber annually process 370,000 t of roundwood felled in the UK into screen fencing and pallet boards.

Taylormade Timber Products is geared to an annual production capacity of 170,000 m³ of sawn softwood. A roundwood-sorting plant from the Obel-P Group company Brødbæk was put into operation at the Durham facility last year. An impregnation plant supplied by Lonza also started up in 2020. Tweddle Engineering was responsible for the configuration and commissioning of the plant.
